Crash! Landen’s Best 10 Movies of 1981

A few that didn’t make the list… Scanners, Escape from New York, The Howling…

And the list…

Gallipoli (This was a tough one for me. While I think Gallipoli is a great film, it’s so to the point that it’s a bit predictable. Still worth seeing…)

10 The Fox And The Hound (Yes, I went with the kid flick at 10. One of Disney’s most under-rated toons…)

9 Clash of the Titans (Ray Harryhausen, Burgess Meredith and Sir Laurence Olivier….)

8 Absence of Malice (A great film about law, ethics and the press…And Wilford Brimley rocks…)

7 An American Werewolf in London (The greatest horror comedy ever?)

6 Dragonslayer (This movie has great FX, humor, adventure and Ralph Richardson…)

5 Eye Of The Needle (From the director of Return Of The Jedi: Richard Marquand. He died way too young…)

4 Chariots of Fire (Despite that ridiculously annoying theme, this is a GREAT film….)

3 Time Bandits (VASTLY under-rated, this is a a surprisingly philisophical comedy. The detailing is incredible. the more you watch this, the more you notice….)

2 Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (Is this the best action flick ever made? I don’t know, but it’s right up there. Like Time Bandits, there’s a lot going on below the surface. A GREAT film!)

1 Raiders of the Lost Ark (Another cornerstone movie of my childhood. This was a great era to grow up in.)
