I watched the indie film Kabluey again (for maybe the 8th or 9th time). After watching this again, I think it’s maybe too low on my Lists of the Best of 2007 and the best of the 2000s. When the song below comes on, it never fails in making me happy. Great song and a great movie. I’ll post a review (a very glowing one) of it at some point. In the meantime here’s one of the great songs from the indie comedy epic, performed by the Magic Bullets.

Here’s another band I like, but this one’s not signed to a label yet (At least, I don’t think they are. I don’t fact check. Sue me.). Even though their self-titled 3 song EP is on itunes (where I bought it), it’s available for free download on their my______ address here, along with 2 more tunes (Crap!!! I’m always the last to know).
The music style is electronic and appropriately… ahem… bouncy. Pun intended. The music’s kinetic. If I had to compare it to that of another band I’d have to point to Garbage when they did their 2.0 Album… If they maybe had Butterfly Boucher as a singer. The song “Pill’s Week” is especially Garbage-like. Not saying ‘derivitive’, but if I had to pick a band whose sound they remind me of, it would be that one.
Whoever produced the EP managed to put together a very p0lished, slick sounding trio of songs. As far as I know, they produced it themselves.
The lyrics are light even if a little sardonic (hey, that’s a word I never use!). Lead singer Harmony Boucher is the sister of one of my favorite singer/songwriters Butterfly Boucher , which is how I found this band. She sounds almost just like her sister, which would explain why I like her voice so much. It’s the genes I guess. I’m not sure if Harmony wrote the lyrics or the band or someone else (I can only assume), but Bunny Come’s lyrics aren’t nearly as optimistic as her sister’s but still sound cheerful enough.
“After The K” features an outstanding video by Husayn Gertse that takes the viewer back to the days of the Atari 2600. I feel like I need a joystick in my hands while watching this (insert own inappropriate ‘joystick’ joke here ____________).Here’s the video:
When I was thinking of how I came across this band, the Kevin Bacon thing… Well, hence the blog post title…
Bunny Come’s lead singer is harmonic Harmony Boucher.
Harmony is the sister of the bubbly Butterfly Boucher.
Butterfly covered “Changes” with original artist, pop living legend David Bowie.
The Man Who Fell To Earth was, of course, in Labyrinth with the lovely Jennifer Connelly.
Connelly was in “A Beautiful Mind” with Ed ‘The Man’ Harris.
Harris was in Apollo 13 with the force of nature that is Clint Howard… Oh. Right. And half of The Bacon Bothers; prolific actor Kevin Bacon.
Thankyaveruhmuch. I knew I could get there.
Anyway, check out Bunny Come! They’re on the inter-tube in all of the places you would expect to find them and as I said, their EP is available on iTunes.
“Where’s the ‘Kaboom’?! There was supposed to be an Earth Shattering ‘Ka-boom’!”
Posted in Crash! Art with tags Art, commission, eBay, Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator, Ink, Marvin the Martian, Photoshop, WonderWoman on March 29, 2011 by Crash! LandenAnother eBay thing. This time an odd combination. The new TV Wonder Woman and Marvin The Martian. threw in the extra Martian for free.
I was going to put a word balloon from Wonder Woman that said :”You’re kidding, right?”… But I chickened out, because my handwriting is so bad. That’s the sort of thing Photoshop is for. But he didn’t pay for the color version, so I just wrote it very small under her at the bottom… I have the urge to color it, but I have to learn to stop doing that… Anyway. Back to drawing…

Posted in FSU/Football with tags Chris Singleton, Final Four, Florida State, Florida State Seminoles, FSU, Leonard Hamilton, NCAA, VCU on March 26, 2011 by Crash! LandenWell, FSU’s run to glory in the NCAA tourney is over. It came down the last second. VCU inbounding the ball under their own basket did exactly what I thought they’d do. They ran several screens with FSU trying to play man defense and got a gimmee underneath. To make things worse, they took their time in getting the ball down the court (as they did at the end of regulation with a chance to win) and didn’t even get a shot off. “The heavenly aroma still hung in the house. But it was gone, all gone! No Final Four! No Final Four sandwiches! No Final Four salad! No Final Four gravy! Final Four Hash! Final Four a la King! Or gallons of Final Four soup! Gone, ALL GONE!”
But it was a good run by Leonard Hamilton and company. Singleton hit some big shots when it mattered. And on the bright side, with Ohio State going down against Kentucky, I locked up winning my ESPN group’s Pick’Em Tourney. For FSU, it was fun while it lasted…
There’s stillthe college baseball season, though and FSU’s #5 at the moment! Go ‘Noles!
The Streak Continues…
Posted in A Few Old, Short Words, Crash! Art with tags Art, Cartoons, Ink, motorcycle, skeletons, skulls on March 25, 2011 by Crash! LandenI almost forgot about posting today… It’s my 89th in a row if I did my math correctly. I’m trying to get to 100, a nice ound number. After that, who knows how long I’ll sustain it.
So…
Here was the motorcycle job I’ve been doing. This is the ink version. I’ll be posting the color version later. Client seemed to like it. That’s the important thing…
One I Haven’t Heard…
Posted in Music with tags James Mercer, Joe Plummer, Live, Music, The Shins, Wicker Park on March 24, 2011 by Crash! LandenI’m a bit of a Shins fan, so I enjoyed this (“When I Goose Step”) while I was looking about on Vimeo… This is one I haven’t heard before. I think it was on the Wicker Park soundtrack and I guess the only Shins song that I don’t own… Yet. I had never seen Wicker Park explaining why I haven’t heard this.

Rogue’s Gallery

I posted a pencil drawing of my favorite X-character a while back. I finally inked it, or at least did a pre-lim ink job. I think I might re-ink this. I didn’t try very hard and simetimes drawing can be more difficult than it has to be. I did ink it on 11 X17 comic board and finished it in record time thanks to a brush. Not the best thing I’ve ever done, but after I colored it, I kinda’ liked it.
I might throw it on eBay and see if anyone wants it. I am going to re ink it so I’ll have my own copy, I guess.
